Our Friendly Staff

In 1991 the Towanda Creek Animal Hospital was started in the home of the Hudyncia Family. With two small daughters: Anya, just three months old and Aurie, 31/2 years old made the house on Franklin Road the ideal at-home small business. The idea of small did not last for long however and within a year Dr. H had a staff of 5 and was looking at the new surgery and kennel that her father-in-law and husband, Mike built into the garage. (It never saw a car parked in it anyways!). Before going any further, it must be said with thankfulness, that the first two employees, Linda and Jean, still work at the animal hospital today. Jeannie keeps trying to retire, but as one who can do it all, she is indispensable! Linda is the office manager, without whom work and a family for the Hudyncias would be impossible.

By 1994 the Animal Hospital was splitting its seams…another veterinarian was hired but there just was not enough room. After searching for a year, the old church building on route 220 was purchased. It was perfect in that there was nothing at all in the lower floor-we could build it just the way we wanted. It took about 8 months, but in November of 1995 we had a moving party and officially saw our first emergency while we moved in!

The animal hospital in Towanda continued to grow; who would ever have thought so many pets would come to need us. With more large than small animal veterinarians being available between Towanda and Messhoppen came the opportunity to expand. In 1997, the site for the Wyalusing office became available, and after talking to the officials for zoning and our Wyalusing clients, the Wyalusing Pet Clinic was given the go-ahead. Again, thanks to husband Mike, who did all the remodelling, the clinic was ready to go in a few short months, opening in the Spring of 1998. The Wyalusing Pet Clinic has been a vital addition to our business, it has provided jobs when the economy slowed and has been a great business as the practice has grown. Dr. Hudyncia especially appreciates the beauty and serenity around the Wyalusing Clinic where it overlooks the Susquehanna as it curves outside of Wyalusing township. There is such a wonderful variety working between the two clinics…We all look forward to becoming more involved in this creative community that has supported the clinic so well.

Altogether, our business now has four veterinarians and a support staff of 20 employees. Everyone rotates between Wyalusing and Towanda. We each as a veterinarian and tech team, take turns being on call 24/7, to provide the best service we can. We just added more evening hours at both clinics to cater to our late working families.
